After some time off, I returned to the NFL Media newsroom in mid-June to begin my third season there as a fantasy football writer/editor. Wasting no time, I got right to it and dove into my first article of the summer--a beast of a piece looking at every single NFL team's backfield situation. Obviously, it's way too early for teams to have these roles locked in, especially when it comes to rookies or guys returning from injuries. But in an effort to help out all of you wonderful fantasy football fans, I started researching and writing about all of the running backs your (or my) brain could handle.
Since football players' roles change on a daily basis, especially during training camp which begins in late July, this is a piece I intend on keeping updated in order to make it the most accurate it can be. When you're drafting a team, it's vital to know who you might want to consider as a handcuff to your early round picks and to identify potential sleepers in the later rounds.
Some of the backfields with the most question marks include the Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans and New York Giants. The hope, at least from a fantasy perspective, is that we gain some clarity regarding these backfields once training camp begins.
